The Militia Mindset

I have a unique understanding of the mindset of these militia bullies, and the types of men who become members of ICE, and other armed agencies. Not all of them join for these reasons, but those positions do attract many men with similar stories.
My dad had a very difficult childhood, and towards the end of his life he shared with me that he had been molested by a couple of teen boys when he was young. From then on, he had to prove his masculinity, for himself, and to get his father’s approval, that he craved his whole life.
This was why he had become a Green Beret. They were “the best of the best”, and if he could get into that elite position, it would prove that he was a “real man”!
He also despised the LGBTQ+ community, because of that horrible act inflicted on him. It wasn’t until he confronted his abuse and had emotional healing from God, was he able to accept the people in that community. He had family members who were gay, and he was able to have healing in those relationships before he died.
When he left the service in the late 70’s, he was looking for another outlet to “serve” and “belong” to a group. He joined the Florida Patriot Movement Militia when we moved to Florida in the early 80’s.
They would have weekend retreats, full of toxic masculinity, but he had friends again, even some of the men that he’d served with. His idol was Bo Gritz….
The irony was that on one weekend, he would be with the militia and the next week he was doing prison ministry….? He believed that BOTH of these activities were what God wanted him to do.
He was a good man, who made some poor decisions, because he was emotionally wounded and didn’t address those wounds. A “real man” didn’t need therapy or help from anyone else.
It began to change when the militia had a family weekend, and my mom heard the racism and vitriol. She confronted Dad about it. He said that he didn’t believe “that part”, but that he needed to be prepared to defend our constitution and our rights, from those liberals that were attacking our freedoms…. He was also a “prepper”.
The final straw for him though, was the Oklahoma City Bombing. Some of his militia “friends” actually celebrated it, but Dad was devastated.
He was heart broken that he had been so deceived, all for the purpose of being a part of an adult, well armed fraternity of ignorant, violent, man boys. He had believed that being a part of that group made him “a real man”.
After Oklahoma City, he never returned, but he did continued his prison ministry. I still am friends with men that he’d led to Christ back then.
God allowed my dad to change lives, in good ways, even when he didn’t have a penny to his name.
He became “a real man” when he humbled himself before his Creator, and dedicated his life to helping “the least of these”. He helped people of every race, gender, or religion.
His friends still reach out to me to tell me how they miss him and how he changed their lives, 14 years after his death! He would literally give his new jacket to a man who needed it more.
If he was still alive today, he would be heartbroken, and would be counseling young men in the military to not follow his path, before it took another Oklahoma City to wake them up!
After I was ordained, and before he died, he felt the liberty to tell me some of the horrible things that he had done, “while serving”. He gave me permission to share everything, if it would help just one person, while I was ministering.
To be in Special Forces, you actually do have to be little “mentally unstable”. If you look at the questions in their psyche evaluations, you’ll see that.
Questions like, “If the government told you to kill your mother, would you follow orders!” At least that’s what Dad shared with me. He had so many stories of the awful things they did, without questioning their orders. Even if they believed that their actions were wrong.
He was a medic and they would set up clinics in mostly black, rural communities, to “give medical help” to the people. Then they would sterilize them.
They also took drugs into those communities so that they could get the people addicted, then arrested, in order to break up the communities and their families. My grandfather was ATF and admitted that they did the same thing.
They also released diseases through mosquitoes and other means, to test the effects on those communities. Now those viruses and diseases are everywhere. Documents confirming human experimentation were finally released by the government about a decade ago. I have a friend working on a documentary about this, particularly the release of Lyme disease, though that has been challenged. There is no debate that the government did do human testing on marginalized communities though.
Lots of bad things, hidden in our history. These aren’t conspiracy theories. They’re first hand accounts from men who were “just following orders”.
We now have a new generation of young, impressionable men, who want to prove their masculinity, and are “just following orders”, even when those orders are unconstitutional, and harming people in our own country.
The posse comitatus act of 1878 was passed to insure that the Army would never be used on domestic shores, except in extreme circumstances. This administration is ignoring this act, as it deploys our troops to be used for civil law enforcement.
It is wrong and illegal, but they’re “just following orders”. You can research the act by doing a simple internet search.
I pray for our country daily. I speak out BECAUSE I love my country and I see it going in the wrong direction. The Republicans are actually doing the things that they feared that the Democrats would do!
If a Democrat president was behaving this way, the Republicans would be losing their minds. They would be armed and ready to fight back. They’ve brought their own fears into our country now. They are the ones who are taking over our democracy, while we silently allow it to happen.
I pray for our service members and those in law enforcement. I came from a family of men, and women (my mom was Army too) who served, both in the military and in law enforcement.
It’s my prayer that we will have peace and sanity back, but I also know prophecy, and I know that God knows the End from the Beginning, and is allowing this to happen. I believe that many are on “The broad road that leads to destruction”, as Jesus described in Matthew 7.
I’ve written about that topic in my blog too. Maybe someone will read it and it will soften their hearts, and open their eyes. When we work on the log in our own eye, we see things more clearly!
Purpose and Scope of the Posse Comitatus Act.
Preventing Military Overreach:
The core purpose of the Posse Comitatus Act is to limit the military's role in enforcing civilian law and to maintain a clear separation between the military and civilian law enforcement.
