Is Our Country on “Survivor”?

Our country is not some TV reality show, like Big Brother or Survivor, where you’re trying to lie and trick your way to become “the winner”, but it feels like it these days. 

When you constantly try to discredit and make an enemy out of science, statistics, or any reports that can show the weakness of certain policies, it feels like trickery, and deception.

When you fire people who are just doing their jobs and reporting data, you are trying to create a cover up with a conspiracy theory. “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!”

When you made promise after promise, in order to get elected, and go back on those promises, yet people continue to defend your actions, there’s something amiss there.

Threatening opposition, even in your own party, or even people that you hired to begin with, is a cover up.

These are all tactics that have been used in authoritarian regimes forever, and we keep allowing it to happen? It really makes no sense to me, other than to believe that people are being duped… they’re only getting their “news” from inside their bubbles, and are ignoring anything that just might send up red flags.

I’m so tired of the conspiracy theories, when they are disproven time and time again. It’s like when I watch elderly family members falling for phishing scams. We warn them over and over, and can put facts right in front of them, yet their minds desperately cling to what they believe is “the truth”.

It’s obvious that our economy is suffering, yet Trump fires the person who points it out with statistics. They are just reporting the numbers. It’s been happening since the 1800’s and it’s a lie to say that this was the biggest drop in numbers ever. It’s not. It’s happened time and time again over the years for various reasons. The facts will tell you that, if you look into them. Nobody looks into them though. They just believe the conspiracy…

It’s one thing when the “talking heads” and media content providers push conspiracy theories, in order to get ratings and create the drama, but it’s another thing entirely when our President and leaders do this. 

There is just absolutely no trust or dignity, and respect for the offices that they hold.

There has always been division in our country but nothing compares to what is happening now. To turn opposition into “enemies within”, and threaten them with “his justice department”, is so un democratic, and wrong.

He gets a pass from the Supreme Court for his conduct around January 6th, and other criminal behavior that was conducted “while he was in office”, and then turns around and threatens Biden and Obama with prosecution for things that he’s heard conspiracy theories about, but have never been proven, while they were in office? There’s no consistency or balance in the things that he does.

The fact that people, many who are obviously intelligent, and usually rational, continue to make excuses for these obvious ploys, is what is most disheartening to me personally. 

It makes me question their motives, because when I talk with them, issue by issue, they usually agree with me. I guess it’s just hard to admit that you’ve been duped!

If people don’t start paying attention though, our country will never be “great again”.
