How Do You Get Your News?

I express how I feel, and I have always felt deeply for others. I’ve always been an open book, and authentic. My father used to say that I could be honest to a fault. Nobody has to wonder if I’m tricking them or being fake.

It’s funny, I’m not emotional in the typical ways though. I rarely cry and I don’t create unnecessary drama in my personal life. Real life has enough drama, and I do my best to face those challenges with peace, and the other Fruits of the Spirit that my circumstances have developed in me.

I do however speak up, when I believe something is wrong, especially when it’s hurting others.

One thing about my medical disabilities is that it gives me a tremendous amount of time to read, investigate, research and write about what I believe, and the lessons God has taught me on this journey.

My posts are not meant to offend, but I do still have a right (for now), and I feel an obligation, to share what I believe, because most people don’t have the time to seek the truth.

I read an article today about the difference between intentional news gatherers vs passive news gatherers. There was even a poll that pointed out that the majority of people, particularly 19-30 year olds, but also older generations, are passive news gatherers.

This means that most people allow the news to come to them, usually through the algorithms that have been created for them, based on the “bubble” of their beliefs. Thank you technology! They only receive “news” that supports their already established biases and beliefs.

Anything that contradicts those beliefs, they consider “fake news”, because it’s not how their friends believe or what their “news” is telling them.

This is why they “can’t understand how others can believe what they do”. They are not out there intentionally seeking the news. They’re just waiting for it to come to them, and what goes to them is not the whole story.

This has become one of the greatest obstacles for our country at this point in our history.

I challenge everyone to start making an effort to intentionally research the news, from different sources than you usually get your information. To make friendships with people who have different world views and perspectives.

My friends come from all over the world. I read their country’s news too. It’s not a pretty picture of America BTW.

My faith is always what comes first, and I’ve studied eschatology (End Times Prophecy) my whole life too. Combining my Biblical research and watching the current events in our nation, has been a revelation (no pun intended but true). I feel like I have become what the Bible calls a “watchman on the walls”. Someone who knows prophecy and can see when it’s happening.

In the book of Daniel, Daniel was told to “seal up the book, even till the time of the end”. That meant that people could study it their whole lives without having an understanding of its meaning, until the End Times.

Before now, prophecy was something that people guessed about. Many said it was metaphorical or not real at all. Today, it’s observations. Things that were told about thousands of years ago, that now make sense and are headline news.

I’ve shared other posts in my blog about it, but I do believe that what we’re going through is the beginning of those days, and people who claim Christianity need to really seek their hearts about what they’re supporting and standing for.

If it’s not about love, for our Father and for ALL others, then it needs to examined. Be honest with yourselves because it’s way too important not to be.

One prophecy is that “even the very elect will be deceived”. I pray every day that I stay close to my Heavenly Father’s heart, humble and that He protect me from deception. I’m sure I fail sometimes, but my heart is honest and I do seek Him first.

I will keep studying, writing and watching for Jesus. I pray that you will too.
